WELCOME!
Hi. Welcome to the wiki. This is a wiki for the Occupy Burlington movement! It needs a lot of help, do something! Please change this wiki to make it better reflect our movement as you understand it. (Note that, as a result, this page does not of course represent the official opinion or policy of anyone except maybe the last person to edit it!)
Please check the recent changes often (there's also a Recent Changes link in the sidebar on the left) to keep up with what's happening on the wiki. There you can watch what other people are doing and help them out or you can start your own projects for other people to help with.
What is Occupy Burlington?
Occupy Burlington is YOU! We welcome ALL people- people of all abilities, classes, colors, races, cultures, creeds, beliefs, faiths, genders, sexual preferences and identities, people with disabilities- people from all walks of life to attend our assemblies and join our working groups. We use a tool known as a "general assembly" to facilitate collective decision making in an open, participatory and non-binding manner. In other words, we all just decide together what we all agree we really want, and then we voluntarily accomplish it together. Occupy Burlington is the manifested power of the people.

The 1/22/12 Occupy Burlington General Assembly agreed on the following statement: "We condemn Judge Murtha's decision in favor of Entergy against the democratic decision of the people and state of Vermont to shut down Vermont Yankee--a dangerous, polluting nuclear plant that has been plagued with accidents, leaks, poor maintenance, and run by a dishonest company. We stand in solidarity with the Vermont Yankee workers and support a just transition where they receive economic support and retraining."
1/29 2 pm: Our Next GA will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church!
All of our GAs will be at the UU until the weather warms!!!!
Issue Tracking System
Some of us are planning to start using a simple Issue Tracking System to help us be aware of problems with the Occupy Burlington process.
Outreach Homerun: Winooski HS Multicultural Dinner/Fundraiser...
Cultural diversity in OWS/VT is a good thing. Outreach to a neighboring town is a good thing. Outreach to the next generation of activists is a good thing. Supporting an effort to build a foundation for world peace and justice is a good thing.
Doing ALL of those things at once while enjoying dinner is a really good thing. Winooski HS Multicultural Club/Peace Jam presents an international dinner to raise funds - Saturday, Feb. 25.
Students Fatuma, Amena, Arafat, and Frankie are joining this Sunday's GA to tell us all about it. Their job is selling tickets; our job is buying them. Please to bring cash. Bonus for us: they're letting us occupy an info/outreach table! See the attachment for details, or contact Bill Oetjen @ billoetjen@gmail.com.

Working Groups
What we came here to do Learn, Live, Act.
Anyone can propose a new working group at the appropriate time during the general assembly. Working groups can be focused on logistical concerns, themes, or issues. In addition to drafting proposals, working groups are empowered to brainstorm, organize, put on events, and make decisions related to their issue or function. Most decisions do not need to come before the entire general assembly. Likewise, keep in mind that many of your questions are probably best directed to the relevant working groups rather than facilitators or the general assembly as a whole.
